A Morning at the Market with Grandma

Last Saturday, I went to the local market with my grandmother. We usually buy food at a supermarket, but she wanted to show me a different place. We left home at seven because the market was less crowded early in the morning.

While we were walking between the small shops, I noticed many bright colours. There were red tomatoes, green vegetables, and yellow flowers. Some people were choosing fruit, and others were carrying heavy bags. The sellers were talking loudly, but everyone seemed friendly.

First, we stopped at a vegetable shop. My grandmother chose some carrots and asked me to pick three tomatoes. I picked the biggest ones. She smiled and said, 'Look carefully. The biggest tomatoes are not always the best.' She showed me how to find fresh ones.

Next, we bought eggs and a small bag of rice. I wanted to carry everything, but one bag was too heavy for me. 'You can carry the eggs,' my grandmother said. 'Just be careful!' I held the bag with both hands while she paid the seller.

Before we went home, we sat near the entrance and ate breakfast. My grandmother told me about her first visit to this market when she was a child. At that time, she came with her mother. I listened and asked her questions about the old shops.

At home, we cooked lunch together. I washed the vegetables while she cut the carrots. The meal was simple, but I enjoyed it more than our usual lunch. I learned something useful that morning, and I also heard a family story. Next Saturday, I want to go again.
