Hạ Long Bay: A Wonder of Vietnam

Hạ Long Bay is in the north of Vietnam, about three hours from Hà Nội by car. It is a very beautiful place.

In the bay, there are almost two thousand islands. They are made of limestone. Some islands are big, and some are very small. Many islands have green trees on top.

"Hạ Long" means "descending dragon". In an old story, a big dragon lives in the sky. It flies down to the sea and makes the islands to protect Vietnam.

Tourists usually visit the bay by boat. They sit on the deck and look at the islands. They can swim, go kayaking, and visit big caves. At night, some tourists sleep on the boat.

The best time to visit Hạ Long Bay is from March to May, or from September to November. The weather is sunny and not too hot.

Hạ Long Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Every year, millions of people come to see it.
