How I Learned to Ride a Bike
Speed:

When I was eight years old, I could not ride a bike at all. All my friends could already ride without any help, and I felt embarrassed every time they talked about it at school.

One Saturday morning, my father decided it was time to teach me. He held the back of my bike tightly while I pedaled slowly around our yard. I was very nervous, and I fell down many times during the first thirty minutes.

My father was much more patient than I expected him to be. He did not get angry when I fell, and he never laughed at me either. He just said, "Try again, it's okay," every single time. After an hour, my legs were tired, but I did not want to stop trying.

Suddenly, I noticed that my father was not holding the bike anymore. I was riding all by myself! I was so surprised that I almost fell again, but this time I managed to keep my balance and kept going.

My mother watched from the porch and clapped when she saw me ride past the gate. She said I looked braver than any of the other children on our street.

That day taught me an important lesson: practice is more important than talent, and patience is more powerful than pressure. Now, riding a bike is easier for me than walking, and I still remember my father's calm voice every time I get on my bike.
