The Picnic That Moved Indoors

Last Sunday, my family planned a picnic by the river. My father made sandwiches, and my sister packed some apples. I put a blanket in a large bag. We were ready to leave when we heard a loud noise outside.

It was raining heavily. While my father was closing the window, my sister looked at our picnic bag. She was very disappointed. We could not sit by the river in that weather, and the sky was getting darker.

Then my mother had an idea. She moved the small table in our living room and put the blanket on the floor. We carried our food into the room. My sister placed her toy trees around the blanket to make a little park.

Our indoor picnic was warmer than a picnic outside. We ate our sandwiches and listened to the rain. My father told a funny story about a camping trip. During his story, my sister made animal sounds behind a chair. We laughed so much that he stopped speaking twice.

After lunch, we played a card game. I lost the first game but won the second. Later, the rain stopped, and we opened the windows. The air smelled fresh. We took a short walk near our home before dinner.

We did not visit the river that day. However, we spent a happy afternoon together. Next time, I will check the weather before packing our picnic bag.
