An A2 reading about an old family bicycle and the stories behind it, practicing comparative adjectives and the Past Continuous.Lượt xem: 5 Nguồn: Daisy Việt
When I was eleven, my grandfather gave me a special present: his old bicycle. It was black and heavy, and the bell made a funny sound. At first, I wasn't very happy. My friends had new, colorful bikes, and they were much lighter than mine.
"This bike is older than your father," Grandpa said, "but it is stronger than any new bike."
That summer, Grandpa and I fixed the bicycle together. We cleaned the rusty chain, pumped up the tires, and painted the frame dark green. While we were working, Grandpa told me stories about the bike.
When he was young, he rode it to work every day, twenty kilometers each way. He carried rice to the market on it. He even rode it to my grandmother's house on their first date!
After I heard these stories, I saw the bicycle differently. It wasn't just an old bike anymore. It was a part of our family history.
I started riding it to school every day. It was slower than my friends' bikes, but I didn't mind. Some of my friends even asked to try it because it looked so unusual.
Today, Grandpa is eighty years old. Every time I visit him, I ride the old green bicycle to his house, and he smiles when he hears the funny bell.
