What Is Cà Phê Sữa Đá?

Cà phê sữa đá is a famous drink from Vietnam. In English, it means "iced milk coffee". It is strong, sweet, and cold.

How do people make it? First, they put ground coffee in a small metal filter called a phin. They put the phin on a glass with sweet condensed milk at the bottom. Then they pour hot water into the phin. The coffee drips slowly, drop by drop. This takes about five minutes.

When the coffee is ready, they stir it with the milk. Then they add a lot of ice. Now it is ready to drink!

Vietnamese people drink coffee everywhere: at home, in cafés, and on small plastic chairs on the sidewalk. Many people drink it in the morning before work. They sit, talk with friends, and watch the busy street.

Many tourists try cà phê sữa đá in Vietnam and love it. Be careful—it is very strong!
