What Is Vietnamese Iced Coffee?

Vietnamese people love coffee. One of the most famous drinks in Vietnam is cà phê sữa đá. In English, we call it Vietnamese iced coffee with milk.

This coffee is very strong and dark. People make it with a small metal filter called a phin. The phin sits on top of a glass. Hot water goes into the phin, and the coffee drips slowly into the glass. You need to wait about five minutes.

At the bottom of the glass, there is sweet condensed milk. Condensed milk is thick, sweet milk from a can. When the coffee is ready, you stir it with the milk. Then you pour it over a lot of ice.

The taste is sweet, strong, and cold. It is perfect for a hot day. Many people drink it in the morning before work or school.

In Vietnam, you can find coffee shops on almost every street. People sit on small plastic chairs on the sidewalk. They drink coffee, talk with friends, and watch the busy street.

Do you want to try cà phê sữa đá? Be careful, because it is very strong! Maybe one glass a day is enough.
