Vietnamese Culture: Traditions That Last Forever
Speed:

Vietnam is a country with a rich culture that has developed over thousands of years. Vietnamese people are proud of their traditions, and many customs from the past are still important today.

One of the most special traditions is Tet, the Lunar New Year, which usually falls in late January or February. Vietnamese families use the lunar calendar to decide the exact date. Before Tet, people clean their houses, buy peach or apricot blossoms, and prepare traditional food such as banh chung. During Tet, children receive lucky money from their grandparents, and everyone wishes each other a happy and healthy new year.

Ancestor worship is another important custom in Vietnamese culture. Many families keep a small altar at home where they burn incense and place fruit to honor their ancestors. This tradition began hundreds of years ago, and it still shows deep respect for family history today.

The ao dai is a traditional dress that Vietnamese women often wear on special occasions, such as festivals, weddings, and the first day of school. Over the years, it has become a symbol of Vietnamese identity around the world.

Vietnamese people are also famous for their hospitality. When guests visit, hosts usually offer tea, fruit, or a full meal, even if the visit is unexpected. This warm welcome has helped Vietnam attract more and more international tourists in recent years.

Today, Vietnam's cultural heritage includes not only festivals and clothing but also music, food, and language. Although modern life is changing quickly, most Vietnamese people believe that these traditions will continue for many more generations.
