An A2 reading about a terrible school morning and a kind neighbor, practicing the Past Simple and Past Continuous with when/while.Lượt xem: 5 Nguồn: Daisy Việt
Last Monday was a terrible morning. My alarm clock didn't ring because the battery was dead. When I woke up, it was already seven o'clock. My school bus always leaves at seven fifteen!
I jumped out of bed, put on my uniform, and ran to the bathroom. While I was brushing my teeth, my mom was shouting from the kitchen, "Hurry up, Nam! You're going to be late!"
I didn't have time for breakfast. I grabbed my bag and ran outside. When I got to the bus stop, the bus was leaving. I waved my arms and shouted, but the driver didn't see me.
I felt terrible. School was four kilometers away, and I couldn't walk there in time. Then I heard a horn behind me. It was my neighbor, Mr. Bình, on his motorbike. He was going to the market near my school.
"Do you need a ride?" he asked with a smile. I said yes and thanked him again and again.
Thanks to Mr. Bình, I arrived at school two minutes before the bell. My friends were surprised because I was sweaty and my hair was messy.
That evening, I bought a new battery for my alarm clock. I also set a second alarm on my phone. I learned an important lesson: it is better to be prepared than to be in a hurry.
