Leo’s New Umbrella

Once upon a time, the sun was very hot in the big forest. Leo the elephant walked slowly because he was very warm. He saw his friend, the tiny white cat, sitting under a big leaf.

"Hello, little cat," Leo said. "The sun is too hot today."

The cat looked up and answered, "Yes, Leo. I need a house to stay cool."

Leo had a great idea. He used his long nose to pick many large green leaves. He put the leaves together to make a big "umbrella." He held the leaves over the tiny cat.

Suddenly, the sky became dark. Big clouds came. It started to rain. Many animals ran to find a place to hide. But the tiny cat did not run. She sat happily under Leo’s leaf umbrella.

"You are a good friend, Leo," the cat said.

When the rain stopped, a beautiful rainbow appeared. Leo and the cat walked to the small house with the red door. They were dry and happy. Leo learned that helping friends makes every day better.

1. The Past Simple Tense (Thì Quá khứ đơn)

Dùng để diễn tả các hành động đã xảy ra và kết thúc trong quá khứ.

• Cấu trúc (Structure):

  • Khẳng định: $S + V_{ed} / V_{cột 2}$

  • To be: $S + was / were$

• Ví dụ trong bài:

  • The sun was very hot. (Mặt trời đã rất nóng).

  • Leo walked slowly. (Leo đã đi bộ chậm rãi).

  • He had a great idea. (Chú ấy đã có một ý tưởng tuyệt vời).

2. The Present Simple Tense (Thì Hiện tại đơn)

Dùng để diễn tả sự thật hoặc lời nói trực tiếp của nhân vật.

• Cấu trúc (Structure):

  • Khẳng định: $S + V_{(s/es)}$

  • To be: $S + am / is / are$

• Ví dụ trong bài:

  • The sun is too hot today. (Hôm nay trời nắng quá).

  • Helping friends makes every day better. (Giúp đỡ bạn bè khiến mỗi ngày tốt đẹp hơn).
